On this trip, you'll explore the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Pompeii and discover the Amalfi Coast, all in one day. With an expert guide by your side, you'll get to see how Mother Nature created Italy's most scenic stretch of coastline, but also how she wiped out one of ancient Rome's most prestigious cities.
First up is Pompeii. Buried under volcanic ash by Vesuvius's eruption of 79 AD, it's now a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Discover the richly decorated villas of the Roman nobility – you can still see frescoes on the walls – as well as public spaces such as the Forum, Amphitheatre and gladiator barracks.
In the afternoon, we'll drive along the coast road to Amalfi. Along the way, there's a visit to a cameo and coral factory, alongside photo stops at panoramic viewpoints over Positano and Sorrento. Arrive in Amalfi and there's free time to visit its mosaic-clad cathedral, stroll around its steep streets, or take an optional trip to a ceramics factory.
